Fire Grand Trine - Alert For The Olympics, The World, and Yourself!

A Grand Trine is a pattern in the chart when three planets form "trine" (120 degree) aspects with each other. A true Grand Trine is when all three planets are in the same element (water, air, earth or fire) in the three separate houses involved. If three lines were drawn to each of the corresponding planets, it would form a nearly or exact equilateral triangle.

In a Fire Grand Trine (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), which we are in now, the energy is highly action-oriented and is continually trying new things.

In order to make this Fire Grand Trine work for you, you have to work it.  If the person does not take an action-oriented stance, it can result in an overly aggressive and violent personality.  In other words, misguided energy. The energy will be used somehow, someway, regardless!

What's of interest in this configuration, we have both the Sun and Mercury involved in the Grand Trine at the Midheaven where the entire world can see everything that is being done and Mercury, being in retrograde, is influencing the positive nature of this Fire Grand Trine.

When the Fire Grand Trine energy is prompting everyone to be action-oriented, Mercury Retrograde reverses the energy from being outwardly to being inwardly. This type of "communication redirection" lends to much confusion, anger, and frustration. This is not an auspicious setup for anyone, especially at the starting of the Olympics, because this energy is VERY OUTWARD when it should be INWARD (self evaluation). Be prepared for much turmoil, both in the political and personal arenas, to be experienced in all areas of your life. Definitely watch the Olympics for any signs of distress.

This setup is also causing what appears to be a new form of aspect that looks much like a compass, which is used in drawing or inscribing circles or arcs. As a symbol, a compass is often used as a symbol of precision and discernment. The compass is also used in the Freemasons' logo. Secret societies may be in the process of enacting their previously created plans during this time... especially during the Olympics. What better way for any organization, secret or not, to make a statement to the world then at an event that is being watched by the world.

Best advice here is to go within yourself, re-evaluate your beliefs, ideals, etc., and release all preconceived notions of what should be right or wrong. Doing this can place you in a better place to see things for what they truly are and also help in keeping you aware of your environment, i.e., work, home, etc. The quicker we go within ourselves and begin the process of “awakening” the quicker we can help others do the same. Remember, We Are All One in Spirit!

Grand Cross - Fixed: Uranus, Pluto, Mars and the Moon

In astrology, a Grand Cross is said to occur when four planets are all separated from each other by Square aspects (90 degrees apart). A Grand Cross can also be viewed as two oppositions (180 degrees apart) separated from each other by a square. In a Grand Cross, there is one planet in each astrological element (fire, earth, air and water) but all the planets are in signs of the same modality or quality.

Because all the aspects in a Grand Cross are considered difficult aspects, the Grand Cross is seen as a source of extreme tension whereby various aspects of the personality (represented by the planets) are working at cross purposes that serve to nullify each other. This pulls the native in many directions, ultimately leading to indecisiveness and an inability to produce concrete achievements. It is said to take extraordinary effort to overcome the conflicts in a Grand Cross.

A Grand Cross does offer a solid foundation, a core structure and strength that can be a great resource; however, finding the point of integration and balance to be able to take advantage of this gift can be very challenging and stressful.  The key to overcoming a Grand Cross comes from working with the two oppositions and balancing out the energies to create a solid foundation to work with.  Focusing on what the core issue of the modality (cardinal-identity, fixed-self worth, or mutable-healing and completion) can help you discover the point of balance, what the issue is, and how to resolve the issue. 

In the case of our current Grand Cross, with Uranus, Pluto, Mars, and the Moon being the players, we are experiencing a fixed Grand Cross, which is said to lead most people, especially well organized people, to resist change and dig in their heels if change pushes hard.  When change occurs, the person affected does not know where to direct his or her talents, which can lead to issues of self worth and possibly depression. However, once the energy of a fixed Grand Cross starts to take action it’s like a steamroller and it’s hard to stop or convince the person affected to change course. 

Now add to this very stressful configuration our current Mercury Retrograde and its configuration and you now have the makings of a chaotic wormhole with people feeling that nothing is being accomplished, they’re not being appreciated for their talents and contributions, nothing is going to change, and there is no end in site.  Be patient… the Moon in this fixed Grand Cross is the fastest moving celestial object and will be out of position by early to mid-day July 18, which will breakup the fixed Grand Cross.  Just keep in mind that we all will still be under the influence of Mercury Retrograde until August 8.

Mercury Retrograde Effects for Most Zodiac Signs

In evaluating Mercury retrogrades, I use sidereal astrological calculations, as well as Starry Night Pro 6, to determine real-time (current) energies involved. Mercury goes retrograde July 15, 2012, in the constellation of Cancer.

Mercury rules thinking and perception, processing and disseminating information and all means of communication, commerce, education and transportation. By extension, Mercury rules people who work in these areas, especially those who work with their minds or their wits: writers and orators, consultants, commentators and critics, gossips and spin doctors, salespeople, teachers, travelers, tricksters and thieves. Mercury also has an occult side, so healing, astrology and the transmission of spiritual knowledge are also in his area.

Mercury retrograde gives rise to personal misunderstandings; flawed, disrupted, or delayed communications, negotiations and trade; glitches and breakdowns with phones, computers, cars, buses, and trains. And all of these problems usually arise because some crucial piece of information, or component, has gone astray or awry. Public transit, i.e. air, bus, etc., law enforcement activity, and social unrest may be affected and/or increase during a Mercury retrograde.

It is not exactly wise to make important decisions while Mercury is retrograde, since it is likely that such decisions will be clouded by misinformation, poor communication and careless thinking. Mercury is all about mental clarity and the power of the mind, so when Mercury is retrograde these intellectual characteristics tend to be less acute than usual, as the critical faculties are dimmed. Make sure you pay attention to the small print!

During this Mercury Retrograde we have Mercury in Cancer. Also, Mercury is trine with Uranus and with the Midheaven, and Sextile with Venus.

The energy during this period will be about looking at old things, paradigms, systems, that exist around your home, or what you consider your home, that appear to be inharmonious and ugly, break them apart, and recreate them into something that actually works and is beautiful to watch it flow as it was intended. Gemini and Virgo may experience turmoil at home and in the work environment (second home) due to the breakdown of communication with others. This breakdown in communications may go as far as affecting careers and relationships, both personal and professional. Emotions will run deep and arguments become heated when quarreling parties don’t take a “breather” and go within to find out what he/she is not being understood. It could be as simple as the ego getting in the way of what is truly just a misunderstanding.

In the world of politics, we have the Olympics starting to show its face onto the world. Many politicians’ egos are going to be involved during this grand event. The United States, being a Gemini, as calculated using Sidereal Astrology, may be seen as an aloof, bratty, and entitled country by the world. This may enrage many athletes, their trainers, and others associated with the United States. Beware that issues that may come up due to the strain of miscommunications during the Olympics may be used by service-to-self politicians to pursue their personal agendas. When people speak during this time, especially Virgo and Gemini, it will appear as if they are going straight to the throat in an unprovoked attack. Caution, patience, and much humility is needed to prevent any misunderstandings and burst of rage. Take the time to go within and re-evaluate yourself and your beliefs. Think before you speak and don’t take the other person for granted. This includes not taking yourself for granted as well. Any judgment made during this time may worsen any situation. Be safe, don’t judge. Just observe and remain aware of all that’s occurring. The time will come when, after you have evaluated all possible scenarios, you will speak your mind and your heart.

Other Major Zodiac Signs Affected by the Mercury Retrograde in Cancer

Venus (Taurus/Libra) Exalted in its Constellation

Emotions will flow like water for Taurus/Libra during this time. Whenever things are not in order, in the home or in career, bursts of emotions, tears, anger, and outrage may ensue. Relationships that are not balanced or appear to be out of balance, both at home and at work, could be triggers for a major outcry for justice. This energy may increase in intensity during the full Moon since the Moon is about emotions and rules Cancer. The energy flowing from Mercury through the Sextile aspect will persuade Taurus/Libra to look within and begin to communicate with their inner Self… the Soul. When Taurus/Libra begins to open their heart, and allow the love of Venus to come in, Taurus/Libra will find peace, harmony, love, and balance with themselves, their home, and their career.

Uranus (Aquarius) in the Constellation of Pisces

In a word…WOW!!! The rebel with a cause will be going through some intense re-structuring of self and his/her beliefs systems. Much introspection will be needed during this time so Aquarius can be better prepared when this Mercury Retrograde is over. Uranus, the ruling planet of Aquarius, is also in retrograde so already Aquarius is going through self-evaluation and re-structuring. But now with Aquarius’ ability to communicate to the masses is being hampered by Mercury (the Communicator) going through retrograde, much frustration may be experienced by him/her and the masses. Also, divine guidance that is normally heard unhindered when Uranus is not retrograde in Pisces is now being channeled in a way to allow Aquarius to go into a “hibernation” period for deep meditation and healing. This is the energy that Pisces is sending to Aquarius, which is intensified by Mercury Retrograde. Be at peace Aquarius with Self. Meditate, enjoy life, and heal thyself. When you have done this you will be in a better place to be of service to others and to yourself.
